While the people on the American continent had to start a Neolithic revolution on their own, it only took them one thousand years more than it took the people in the Middle East to devise farming concepts. Whereas the Eurasian Neolithic revolution took place about eleven thousand years ago, the one in America is believed to have taken place ten thousand years ago. There is insufficient information to determine the exact time when the first technologically complex culture appeared in America, but most sources point sometime around 1800 B.C.

Tiwanaky was located in a strategic position, with people in the state being able to catch fish from the sea, llamas from the higher regions, and a series of vegetables from around the Titicaca Lake. In their endeavor to achieve progress, the people of Tiwanaku realized that through refraining from investing resources in military plans they could experience progress more rapidly.
The Tiwanaku community was advantaged because its people were united by the central religion in the state, making it possible for them to want to cooperate, given that they had somewhat similar objectives.
